Kidepo Valley National Park

Karenga, Uganda

4 daysRated 4.7 out of 5 from 3 reviews$1,250per person

Uganda's most remote park and, by common consent, its most beautiful — a broad savanna in the far northeast ringed by mountains, running to the South Sudan border. Isolation is the point: you can go a full day without meeting another vehicle. Kidepo holds species found nowhere else in the country, including cheetah and ostrich, alongside big lion prides and enormous buffalo herds on the Narus Valley floor.

The most spectacular landscape in Uganda and we had it entirely to ourselves. Worth the effort to reach it.

Buffalo herds in the Narus Valley that stretch to the horizon. Fly in if you can — the drive is very long.

Real wilderness. The Karamojong community visit was a genuine highlight, not a staged performance.
