Sipi Falls

Kapchorwa, Uganda

2 daysRated 4.7 out of 5 from 3 reviews$260per person

Three waterfalls stepping down the foothills of Mount Elgon, the largest dropping nearly 100m over a cliff with the Karamoja plains laid out beyond. The area is Arabica coffee country and the smallholder tours — picking, pulping, roasting over a fire, drinking it an hour later — are among the best in East Africa. Abseiling beside the main falls is on offer for anyone who wants it.

The coffee tour was a surprise highlight — from tree to cup in an afternoon, run by the farmers themselves.

Abseiled next to the main falls and got thoroughly soaked. Views across to Karamoja are enormous.

Lovely hiking between all three falls. Underrated corner of the country.
